I Fall Ill, Universe Implodes?
January 27, 2008 by Graham
I’ve returned for a mightily overdue entry; the statistics on my blog have completely bottomed out! This return is due to the slight increase in the rough health patch I seem to be stuck in at the moment. The ’six meals a day’ are going well which appears to be helping greatly. This has allowed me to skim over the news, current affairs and whatnots I’ve missed out on while breaking from computer activity. I’ve also managed to catch up on Richard Madeley’s Blog - something I missed and felt guilty for not keeping up to date with.
In my absence, Stephen Fry has broken his arm! I see how it is now, I fall more under the weather and retreat from the internet to recover and the great man breaks his arm. A sad coincidence. However, unlike Kate Beckinsale in Underworld: 3, I’m back! Underworld may not be the best series of films to ever hit the screens but let’s face it, Kate is - clearly - the best part of the films and the only reason I watched them. Since returning from my partial hibernation I’ve learnt more saddening news, I’ll not bore you with any more but I’m amazed I’ve missed so much. I was half expecting to see news of the Universe beginning to implode “at an alarming rate” in one of my science feeds. Anyway…
Last night saw yours truly sat up in bed nursing stomach pains, something being poorly has brought for company, and watching Wild Thing I Love You with Bill Bailey (who, along with Eddie Izzard, Dara O’Briain, Billy Connolly and Jack Dee - among others - I hold in the highest comical esteem) and the cutest zoologist I know of, Dr. Sasha Norris.
It was during one of the commercial breaks I began to ponder the merits of purchasing a laptop, thus allowing me to continue with my browsing, blogging and the task which had taken up the majority of my waking hours yesterday, development of the phpBB3 forum I’m setting up (and learning about) for a client.
However, whilst this would be awfully handy and will have allowed me to update this blog with the content I thought about as I saw Bill jumping out of a rather fine looking Land Rover Defender 110, I fear I’ll never get to sleep if I did have one. Many things were rushing through my head last night including CSS coding for the forum, ideas for my current novel and developing ideas for my next potential series of books, all of which I wanted to note down but the draw of bed and the amount of effort required was too great.
In retrospect, this was probably a bad plan because my memory is not what it used to be and I have a habit of forgetting things. I even popped out for a little walk midway through writing this and have subsequently forgotten what I was going to type.
As an aside, I’ve been contemplating purchasing a few chickens to keep in the garden but fear they may destroy the garden which my nephew and dog love to run around in. My mother has always loved chickens and I’d love to have some about - they’d be great for blogging about, such is their nature - but the jury is out and we are undecided.
Also, don’t forget to check out the coverage of the closing stages of the opening round of the World Rally Championship at Monte Carlo today!
I’m most upset about Jeremy Beadle’s death. He was my hero when I was a kid.
Also I love my laptop. I don’t find myself sleeping less, just computing more (when I sit in the mister’s room), but you know I love my sleep.
Oh and that’s so sad Fry broke his arm, and he was releasing a manatee into the wild, amazing. We were talking in the pub tonight about how he is god and if he says it, it has to be true.
Oh, don’t talk to me about statistics. Some days, I wonder why I bother. It’s very seasonal. Some days are good. Others bad. You can never know so you must just keep writing something every day. Even if its a few words… You have to train readers to come back every day.
Jaz, yes it was quite shocking. I wasn’t his biggest fan but I used to enjoy You’ve Been Framed.
I tend to get rather into things when I’m on the computer and lose track of time.
Fry is, clearly, something of a God perhaps he could front his own religion? You should read Richard Madeley’s blog for amusing tales of Fry!

Richard old chum, I’m finding the seasonal woes at the moment, though your blog comments have perked up a bit! I’ve been meaning to blog for a couple of days but haven’t felt up to it. I’m hoping this won’t be the case tomorrow so I can get cracking with it.
